Roslyn "Rozzy" Shorter
is a native Houstonian and a graduate of Jesse H. Jones High School.
She was educated at Sam Houston State University; College of the
Mainland, where she received her chemical process certification; and
San Jacinto College where she earned her private, instrument, and
commercial written pilot licenses.
Trusting her father’s vision of empowering the partnership of small business, community and politics, she’s become a highly regarded leader and a tireless community activist while embracing these principles.
Rozzy's career spans over 20 years working in the Houston Metropolitan community .
She
was employed at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional
Division , gaining first hand knowledge of the pipeline to prison and
the recidivism problems that face our city. She was instrumental in
the implementation of "Clean Air Practices" producing better "Quality
of Life" during her tenure in Texas' petrochemical industry.
Rozzy's current career in international travel exposes her to a plethora of diverse and progressive cities abroad.
Rozzy is an advocate for children, she serves passionately as co-chair of the Houston CARES Mentoring Movement, and is a volunteer for the Children’s Defense Fund Freedom School. Rozzy served as the Chair of Operations and Logistics for Senate District 13 Convention where there she was voted to represent the district as Democratic National Committeewoman at the Texas State Convention.
