We Can Do Better
Transportation and Infrastructure
We can do better in the areas of transportation and infrastructure. Efforts are being made to build new roads and improve transportation systems; however, management of how transportation improvements are implemented can be improved. Where road improvement construction is taking place, alternate routes for traffic should remain free of construction so that drivers are not forced to drive on roads that are not operating at their maximum traffic capacity. Further, efforts should be made to time traffic lights so that more cars can get to their destination without stopping; thereby relieving the road of cars more quickly. The light rail system has worked well in a small area. Houston remains far behind other major cities around the country and the world when it comes to rail transportation. Houston's size dictates that we should have a greatly improved rail system to help ease traffic and pollution. Public transportation must become a viable transportation resource in order for us to operate in a more effective manner.
Flood and Drainage
We can do better in the area of Flood and Drainage. Current engineering efforts are focused on the overall drainage of the city and on proper drainage for new residential and commercial development. However, little effort is placed on the study of older individual areas where problems are occurring. Older areas were not built to the current standard to prevent flooding. We need to contract and direct engineers to study these older areas on an individual basis that constantly have flooding problems and spend money on updating the drainage in these areas to the current standard.
Recycling
We can do better in the area of Recycling. We need to have a plan that provides recycling opportunities for more neighborhoods. This will make a greener Houston possible. We can set in place a local plan to help our businesses to take part in recycling during their daily schedules.
Quality of Life
We can do better in the area of Education and Mentoring. What we invest today in our children, we withdraw with interest 30 years from now. As the world economy becomes more competitive, we know we must adopt a more progressive approach to education in order for our children to compete. We need to create career paths for young people through mentoring, vocational training and apprenticeships within the City and with local businesses.
So Houston now is the time for a change, cast your vote for Rozzy because...
We, Can do Better!!!!
